Your inbox, finallya conversation.
Bitmail is an email app that presents your mailbox the way a messaging app does: one chat per person instead of a pile of threads. And when a file is too big to attach — which is most of them — it sends it as a link for you, up to 2 GB, built in and free.
Free · Android 7.0 and newer · No account needed
Today
Hi! Are we still on for Thursday at 10?
Yes — I have booked the small meeting room.
Perfect. I've attached the agenda.

01The first big idea
Email did not need more folders. It needed a conversation.
Every other email client shows you threads. Bitmail shows you people. Everything you have ever exchanged with someone lives in one place, in order, the way you already read messages everywhere else on your phone.
01One chat per person
Not one per thread. Every message from and to a contact sits in a single running conversation, so you never hunt through six subject lines to remember what was agreed.
02Inbox and Sent, merged
Both halves of an exchange appear together. Your reply sits underneath their question, where it belongs, instead of in a separate folder.
03No quoted clutter
Quoted history, disclaimers and signatures are stripped out and folded behind a tap. What is left is the message someone actually wrote you.

02The second big idea
Send a 2 GB file from your inbox. Free, and already built in.
Almost every mail provider stops you at around 25 MB. That is one short video, a handful of RAW photos or a single design file — and then you are off to a third-party site, uploading, copying a link and pasting it back into a half-written email. Bitmail does that part for you, inside the message you were already writing.
No WeTransfer. No WeSendIt. No Dropbox link.
No second tab, no upload site, no free-tier limit, no ad-supported download page for whoever receives it. You pick the file the way you would pick any attachment, and Bitmail works out whether it fits — and what to do if it does not.
- Files up to 2 GB, sent as a download link
- Bitmail knows your provider's per-message limit and keeps a running total while you pick files
- You are warned before you hit the limit, not after a long upload fails
- Put a password on a transfer link when the contents are sensitive
- Uploaded straight from the phone — nothing has to go through a computer first
- The recipient just gets a link in a normal email, from your normal address

03What's inside
A full email client, in a shape you already know
Bitmail is not a stripped-down viewer. It does everything you expect from a serious mail app, and a few things most of them do not.
Sign in with just an address
Type an email address and password. Bitmail discovers the servers itself and recognises Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail and the rest. Manual setup is there when discovery cannot find it.
Every account, one place
Add as many accounts as you like. Read them in a unified inbox or one at a time. Google, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace domains are detected automatically.
Built for reading
Chat bubbles with day separators, swipe to reply, swipe to archive or delete, five painted backgrounds, five list layouts, light and dark themes, and search across everything synced.
Documents open in the app
PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, images, CSV and calendar invites all open inside Bitmail. No second app, no upload, no waiting.
Smart content, only when useful
Tracking numbers, one-time codes, order references, invoice totals and calendar invitations are lifted out of transactional email and put at the top. Personal mail is left exactly as written.
Honest spam handling
Junk moves to Spam and is never deleted. SPF, DKIM and DMARC are checked and forged senders are marked. You are told every single time something is moved.
Files up to 2 GB
Bitmail knows your provider's attachment limit and warns you before the upload fails, then offers to send a link instead — optionally password protected.
Mail arrives while it's closed
The phone watches the mailbox itself. There is no Bitmail server in the middle and your mail password never leaves the device.
04Smart content
The useful part, lifted to the top
Transactional email buries one important detail under a page of layout. Bitmail finds it and shows it first. Nothing at all is shown for ordinary personal email.
Parcel tracking
Tracking numbers, with a link straight to the right carrier.
One-time codes
Verification codes pulled out and ready to copy with one tap.
References
Order, invoice and booking references, where you can actually see them.
Totals
Receipt and invoice amounts read off the message.
Invitations
Add-to-calendar for meeting and event invites.
The one link
The single action link the email was sent to make you click.
Unsubscribe
One tap, read from the sender's own List-Unsubscribe header.
05Make it yours
An inbox you actually want to look at
You will spend more time in your mail app than in almost anything else on your phone. Bitmail lets you set how it looks and how it behaves, rather than handing you one opinion and calling it design.
Five chat backgrounds
Five painted backgrounds behind your conversations, plus plain if you would rather have nothing at all.
Five list layouts
Choose how much of each conversation the chat list shows — from dense and compact to roomy, with previews.
Light, dark or system
A proper dark theme, a proper light one, or follow whatever your phone is already doing.
Unified or one at a time
Read every account together in one inbox, or switch to a single account when you want to keep work and life apart.
Notifications on your terms
Mute a single conversation, snooze it until later, or switch notifications off entirely.
Your own signature
Write a custom signature — and never see anyone else's, because signatures are folded away by default.
06Privacy
There is nothing here to monetise you with
Bitmail has no advertising business and no analytics pipeline. Your mail goes between your phone and your own provider. We are not a stop along the way.
- No ads, anywhere in the app
- No tracking, no analytics, no telemetry
- No Bitmail account to create — there is nothing to sign up for
- Mail passwords are held in the Android keystore, never in plain settings
- Mail travels directly between the phone and your provider
- No storage permission is requested — the app only ever sees the file you hand it
Because there is no Bitmail server holding your mail, there is no Bitmail database to leak, subpoena or sell.
07Spam and security
It tells you what it did
Most spam filters make a decision quietly and hope you never notice. Bitmail takes the opposite position: it acts, then says so, and one tap puts anything back.
- Junk is moved to the Spam folder and never deleted
- The verdict your mail server already computed is read and respected
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC are checked, and forged senders are marked
- Anyone you have written to is never filed away
- Block a single sender or an entire domain, and unblock with one tap
- Every move is announced, with a link to go and read it

11Questions
The things people ask first
Short answers. The full list is on the FAQ page.
What makes Bitmail different from other email apps?
It is organised by person rather than by thread. Inbox and Sent are merged into one conversation per contact, and quoted history, disclaimers and signatures are folded away so you read only what was actually written.
Can I send large files with Bitmail?
Yes — up to 2 GB, free, without leaving the app. Most email providers cap attachments at around 20–25 MB. Bitmail knows your provider's limit, warns you before an upload fails, and offers to send the file as a download link instead, optionally protected by a password. You do not need WeTransfer, WeSendIt, Dropbox or any other third-party service.
Is Bitmail free?
Yes. Bitmail is free to download and use. There are no ads, no subscription, no paid tier and no data sold to advertisers.
Which email providers work with Bitmail?
Any provider that offers IMAP and SMTP. Gmail, Outlook.com, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace are recognised automatically, and anything else can be set up by typing the server details yourself.
Does Bitmail read my email?
No. Your mail is fetched by your phone directly from your provider and processed on the device. There is no Bitmail server in between, so there is no copy of your mail for anyone here to read.
Do I need to create a Bitmail account?
No. There is no Bitmail account, no sign-up and no profile. You add the email account you already have, and that is the whole setup.
Bitmail is on Google Play
Install it, type the email address you already have, and your mailbox turns into conversations. No Bitmail account to create, nothing to configure, nothing to pay.
Requires Android 7.0 (API 24) or newer.
